The Toughest Day...

Sending a child on a mission is such a bittersweet day. You spend their whole life teaching them the Gospel, praying they'll gain a testimony of their own and be willing and worthy to serve. All the preparation is worth it when they get their call. Saying goodbye for two years is heart wrenching.

We took Grayson to the Salt Lake Airport Monday, August 7, 2017 to catch his first flight to Orlando at 9:38 am. He arrived at 4:10 pm and was able to give us a quick call that he made it to the next airport and all was well. His flight from Orlando to Sao Paulo left at 10:20 pm and was a 9 hour flight, arriving the next morning at 8:20 am. We received a brief email from Elder Tebbs at the Brazil MTC that he arrived safely and was happy.

These two are close.

Elder Johnson is from Centerville and Grayson knew him prior to them being called to the same mission and reporting the same day. He was thrilled to have a travel buddy.

Even Cooper knew what was happening and seemed depressed.

Let the 2-year countdown begin!

Last Family Home Evening...

We headed to the Puppy Barn in American Fork for our last FHE together. Of course everyone wanted to bring a pal home for Cooper but I stood firm. Lots of cute pups though! We had a dinner and game night with Mark's family in Cedar Hills right after and the cousins still love hanging out together even as they get older and the next generation of kids has begun...

Missionary Farewell Sunday

Grayson gave his missionary farewell talk in Sacrament Meeting on July 30th. He did an amazing job and had lots of family and friends to support him. We had a crepe bar, potato casseroles and dessert assortment after the meeting. One more pre-mission event behind us!
