The Toughest Day...

Sending a child on a mission is such a bittersweet day. You spend their whole life teaching them the Gospel, praying they'll gain a testimony of their own and be willing and worthy to serve. All the preparation is worth it when they get their call. Saying goodbye for two years is heart wrenching.

We took Grayson to the Salt Lake Airport Monday, August 7, 2017 to catch his first flight to Orlando at 9:38 am. He arrived at 4:10 pm and was able to give us a quick call that he made it to the next airport and all was well. His flight from Orlando to Sao Paulo left at 10:20 pm and was a 9 hour flight, arriving the next morning at 8:20 am. We received a brief email from Elder Tebbs at the Brazil MTC that he arrived safely and was happy.

These two are close.

Elder Johnson is from Centerville and Grayson knew him prior to them being called to the same mission and reporting the same day. He was thrilled to have a travel buddy.

Even Cooper knew what was happening and seemed depressed.

Let the 2-year countdown begin!

Last Family Home Evening...

We headed to the Puppy Barn in American Fork for our last FHE together. Of course everyone wanted to bring a pal home for Cooper but I stood firm. Lots of cute pups though! We had a dinner and game night with Mark's family in Cedar Hills right after and the cousins still love hanging out together even as they get older and the next generation of kids has begun...

Missionary Farewell Sunday

Grayson gave his missionary farewell talk in Sacrament Meeting on July 30th. He did an amazing job and had lots of family and friends to support him. We had a crepe bar, potato casseroles and dessert assortment after the meeting. One more pre-mission event behind us!

Happy Birthday to Us!

I have shared my birthday with my mom for 52 years. I was born on her 31st birthday making her 83 now. We will miss some of our usual birthday festivities because she can't leave Beehive Homes to celebrate but we had a fun visit, gift exchange and singing which she seemed to really enjoy. July 27th is a great day to have a birthday!

In addition to celebrating with mom, I enjoyed breakfast and lunch out with friends and family, ward friends took me for brunch a couple days prior and more friends are taking me to lunch after Grayson's leaves. A dear friend made me a butterbeer cake and it was delicious! Seems that food and desserts are the way I enjoy celebrating most :)

24th of July!

Pioneer Day in Utah is always a fun holiday with lots of fun activities, parades and festivities. We watched the Bountiful Handcart Parade on July 21 with fireworks later that evening and headed to Deer Creek Reservoir on the actual holiday July 24th and invited all the kids and their friends.

We rented two 3-person wave runners, a double kayak and a stand-up paddleboard. We stopped in Heber for burgers, fries and shakes on the way home. Super fun day which may become an annual tradition!

Temple Day!

Having a child go through the temple and receive their endowment is always a payday for parents. Having Grayson, our last child, attend the temple filled me with so much joy and gratitude.

Bountiful Temple - July 8, 2017

It was so neat to have Garrett be Grayson's escort and have the rest of the immediate family living in the state there to support him...
