Since 4 of the 6 of us living in Utah live in Provo, we decided to rotate our monthly Sunday family dinners instead of having them all in Bountiful. John and I drove down to Provo right after our afternoon church block and took the main dish and a side to Garrett and Julia's apartment in Provo. Hailey brought a salad and Julia made dessert. We had a short family home evening lesson on Pres. Nelson's last conference talk about the Book of Mormon, played Telestrations and our favorite family game of Phase 10. Hope this continues as long as we have kids living in Utah! (And Hillary and Patrick are getting closer... they moved to Las Vegas this weekend which is only an hour and a half from St. George!! Hopefully we'll get to see them lots more too!

Weekend Celebrations Continue...
John and I enjoyed a relaxing day in St. George going to breakfast with Garrett & Julia before they headed to Vegas and then we went on a cool hike in Snow Canyon, got our car washed at the Sechrest's newly-owned St. George car wash, went to lunch with the Sechrests, played tennis, then drove to Vegas for the wedding open house at Julia's parent's home. It was exactly what John needed after a grueling week since his father's passing. We know we won't have anymore weddings in the near future since Grayson still has 19 months left on his mission. Fingers crossed we don't have any funerals too soon either...
A wedding and a funeral...
After Garrett and Julia's wedding right before Christmas, John's father passed away December 27. His funeral was held January 5, 2018 in Bountiful. Besides celebrating the loved one who has passed, the best thing about a funeral is the mini family reunion which occurs. All of our kids and spouses flew in from Nevada, Idaho and California to attend. It was so great to be together even if it was only for 24 hours!
Clem's funeral was held in his ward building near his home in Bountiful and he was buried at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery close to Ashton's grave.
The Relief Society provided a very nice luncheon after the funeral and graveside services. We dropped Hillary & Patrick off at the airport and drove Garrett & Julia to St. George to spend the night so we could travel to Las Vegas the next day for their open house at Julia's parent's home.

Wrapping up 2017!
The honeymooners returned after a week in Cancun and opened their wedding gifts. They made quite the haul! We helped them move into their cute apartment in Provo.
Went to visit/feed mom her New Years Eve lunch and she had on festive slippers. She was a little tired during the meal but she ate it all...
John and I were alone New Years Eve with all the kids out of town. We finally made it to the Christmas lights on Temple Square and made our own mugs of hot chocolate to take with us. Happy New Year to us!! We had wonderful events in 2017 with Julia becoming a member of our family and Grayson serving a mission in Brazil. John losing his dad on December 27 was a tough loss. Looking forward to an amazing and wonderful 2018!!
