Kauai Valentine Trip - Day 4

Started off our Sunday morning with a beautiful walk around Princeville. Checked out of our hotel in time for brunch near the Kilauea Lighthouse at the Kilauea Bakery.

Attended 1:00 church at the Kapaa 2nd Ward and I loved their announcement of a returning missionary so they could meet her at the airport and then a welcome home dinner supported by the ward. John enjoyed church as well...

Couldn't leave Hawaii without a meal at Duke's and a piece of the famous Hula Pie. Until next time Kauai... (which is hopefully an annual Valentine trip!!!)

Kauai Valentine Trip - Day 3

We checked out of the beautiful Sheraton Resort and headed north to our destination at the Westin Princeville Resort. We stopped in Kapaa on the way and rented beach cruisers for a couple hours to ride the 10-mile trail up and down the coast. We had a scary mishap when the car keys fell out of John's hat which was in the basket of his bike. We said multiple prayers and luckily found them in the grass a mile away from where we noticed they were missing. Prayers are answered and we needed that one for sure!

After checking into our hotel and upgraded to a gorgeous ocean-view villa complete with kitchen and washer and dryer which we took full advantage of, we stopped for lunch in Hanalei at some delicious food trucks and then made our way to the Na Pali Coast to hike the Kalalau 4-mile trail. Definitely muddy in places and a great workout but the views were worth it as was the fresh coconut at the end.

Kauai Valentine Trip - Day 2

Started off our morning hiking the Maha'ulepo Heritage Trail in Poipu and saw a seal on the beach we hoped wasn't in distress. The weather has been incredibly perfect and temperatures ranging from 65-75 degrees every day.

Since we didn't schedule anything prior to arriving, we were lucky to find a couple of openings with the Kayak Wailua company for a 5-hour kayaking and hiking tour on the Wailua River. It's the first day they've been opened since the rain from last week flooded their trails and it was too muddy to hike. We had lots of mud but it was fun and easily washed off when we arrived at the falls. Another wonderful and active day in sunny Kauai...

Kauai Valentine Trip - Day 1

We are lucky John earns so many spg points with his business AmEx card so I can feed my travel bug desires. However, John never feels like he can leave the business very long so I planned a quick trip to our favorite Hawaiian island--Kauai. We arrived late Wednesday night, Feb. 7 and since Utah is 3 hours ahead of Hawaii, we were up early Thursday morning to begin our Day 1. John got some business done first thing and then we walked to Spouting Horn, enjoyed the beach at the Sheraton Resort in Poipu, walked a half-mile for a mid-morning Puka Dog (lunchtime for Utah) and enjoyed driving our 2018 Camaro Convertible up to Waimea for lunch at Shrimp Station and the Canyon Trail hike at Waimea Canyon.

The Canyon Trail was pretty muddy from the previous week of rain they had but it was still do-able and the scenery was gorgeous.

Enjoyed takeout from Pizetta (one of our favorites in Koloa Town) out by the fire at the resort. So much for attempting to relax and do absolutely nothing--haha!

Vegas Fun!

John was working in St. George for the week so I drove to Vegas to have some fun with Hillary and Patrick. Hillary and I went to lunch and shopped and then Patrick joined us for dinner at Black Tap which is a new NY restaurant that opened in the Venetian. They have incredible specialty shakes that we had to try before we hit up the MJ Live Show at the Stratosphere which I happily sang along from our front-row VIP seats. Then I drove the 1 hr. and 45 min. back to St. George. Great day!!
