Spontaneity at its best...

Hillary had a Friday off and asked if I wanted to go to the beach with her. Of course! I flew to Vegas Thursday afternoon and she picked me up from the airport and we drove 4 hours to Newport Beach. We didn't have any real plans except to enjoy the beautiful weather and eat some yummy food. We did exactly that!

We stayed at the Marriott Resort and Spa across the street from Fashion Island in Newport and spent many hours enjoying the spa offerings.

We did buy tickets to Pageant of the Monsters which was a fun evening of a haunted house, activities, crafts and fortune tellers.

Besides Beachcomber Cafe for an amazing breakfast our first morning there, we also enjoyed sampling Sidecar Donuts specialty flavors, Tortilla Republic, True Food Kitchen and Mama D's Italian for a yummy dinner after an afternoon at Newport Beach. Definitely a fun, relaxing and spontaneous couple of days!

Birthday Celebration!

Celebrated dad's 86th birthday a little after the fact since he was at the beach on Oct. 10. Enjoyed a delicious dinner at Market Street Grill and fabulous performance at Hale Theater of The Scarlet Pimpernel!

St. George Family Weekend

We always enjoy going to St. George but seem to be heading there more frequently since the kids want to be there as well. This past weekend Hillary, Patrick, Julia and Garrett joined us. The girls went hiking and guys went biking (and shooting)... We always make sure to squeeze in a meal at Viva Chicken too!

After the kids were gone Sunday afternoon, John and I took a tour of the renovated St. George Tabernacle and saw my great great grandfather David Milne's painting tools which he used as he painted both the Tabernacle and the temple. He painted the original "eye" in the tabernacle and this one was repainted when renovated by someone else. Lots of family history in St. George.

October Offerings

October has been a busy and eventful month with lots of activities with family and friends. I hosted a cookie decorating class with 10 attendees and actually made some decent-looking cookies...

Cooper visited John at work...

I visited and fed mom many times at Beehive Homes since dad and Kings were at the beach for a week...

Attended the Women's Session of General Conference with Courtnie and her two oldest. Pretty good seats are one of the perks with having your sis on the Primary General Board...

Took Hailey and Julia to BYU Homecoming Spectacular featuring Colbie Caillat and David Archuleta...

 Grayson baptized Jhames...

And Ashton would've been 28 years old October 19...
