Moon Palace Grand Cancun

We love The Grand at Moon Palace in Cancun and knew it was the perfect place to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary!

It's also our favorite all-inclusive with THE best restaurants which we enjoyed every night! The hotel even set up a special anniversary dinner one night at their french restaurant which included one of our favorite desserts Creme Brulee.

Enjoyed homemade ice cream daily as well as other amazing desserts!

We swam, spent time at the beach, pools and water park. John golfed on three 9-hole Jack Nicklaus courses and I made it through nine holes of mini golf. Rode bikes. Nightly shows and entertainment. Saw multiple wildlife species. Had several spa appointments including massages and facials, went to the gym and relaxed. The perfect way to celebrate!

REUNIONS!

 I had so much fun at two reunions in one day! An old friend of the family--Liz Smith--turned 90 so the El Monte ward I grew up in had a surprise birthday party for her at the Barney's house in El Monte. It was great seeing so many familiar faces from my childhood!

My high school, the Mountain View Vikings, held an all-years reunion Saturday, Sept. 23 at Caddies at Almansor Court in Alhambra. John and I flew into LAX Saturday and stayed at a hotel next to the airport since we were flying to Cancun the next morning to celebrate our 35th anniversary. I drove around El Monte and the high school before showing up at the 8pm start time for the reunion and hung out with my besties Lisa and Patty until I headed back to LA at 10:30pm. 40 years for my class of 1983!

September Events!

 John and I were invited to the VIP St. George Open House event that Steve and Michelle were in charge of. The refurbished temple was beautiful and the food afterward was amazing!

I took Chloe and Sadie to the Highland Library Grandparent Storytime they have monthly and we listened to stories, sang songs and made a craft. Then we went to lunch at Aubergine before I took them home. I look forward to these monthly granddaughter dates!

Papa took the family to Dollie's (duplicate of the kids old-time favorite "Sweet Tomatoes") restaurant when Hillary's family was in town. Fun to see him with all the great grandchildren on our side... even though Cora didn't want to be two feet away from her mom :)

Scarlett turns 2!

 Scarlett Renee Hughes turned 2 on Tuesday, Sept. 12. We celebrated at our Sunday family dinner and then again on her actual birthday at her house. She is so fun and smart and LOVES anything Disney and from Frozen--especially Elsa! Happy birthday to beautiful Scarlett!
