John and I have wanted to go to Banff for years and we finally made it there, arriving on our 37th anniversary Sept. 30. We enjoyed five, fun-filled days and felt like we covered most everything we wanted to see and do!
DAY 1 (Our Anniversary)--Started off with breakfast in the Delta Club lounge and since it was a short 2 hour flight to Calgary, we hit the ground running at 11am with lunch on Stephen Avenue and a 3-hour bike ride all around downtown Calgary.
Drove to Banff where we checked in at the Moxy Hotel on Banff Avenue and enjoyed dinner at a vegan restaurant where we tried the nachos with 27-ingredients from beans and quinoa to dill pickles and strawberries! Then we explored with an evening hike around town and some nearby ponds.
DAY 2 was packed! Started off on an hour-long hike at Cascade Ponds on our way to Minnewanka Lake where we went on an hour-long boat cruise. All of the water we see is fed by glaciers so it is turquoise, clean and extremely beautiful.
After the boat cruise we headed back to Banff for our 2-hour Open top tour all around the Banff area. Such a fun experience!
We got back in time to catch the Banff Gondola up Sulpher Mountain where we finally got to celebrate our anniversary with dinner at the Sky Bistro. Food was amazing and we got a complimentary anniversary dessert and prime seats by the window! It was raining so we were glad to be indoors for a bit...
