Something New...

For those that know me really well, you know that I don't sew, I don't want to sew, I don't own a sewing machine (wouldn't know how to use it if I did...) and have no intention of sewing...

That all changed today. For 2011 I decided I would try one simple sewing project.

I signed up at JoAnn's for a private class with an instructor that helped me make pajama pants from start to finish and it only took me 3 hours! Granted she had to teach me how to read a pattern and how to use a sewing machine but I did it!!!

Memorable things: I made so many "uh ohs" that I learned how to correct most things you might do wrong when sewing. One of those was unpicking the side seams and giving myself an extra 1/2" in the thigh area because my thighs were too big for the pants! The teacher was trying to make me feel better by saying "that's what happens to us women when we have babies..." and I was trying to give her the explanation that I'm a runner and have muscular legs!

I think your teacher made an uh-oh. Your extra 1/2 inch in the seam is definitely a pattern mistake. Has to be! You are one of the trimmest people I know.

And there you go being all inspirational and trying new things and stepping out of your comfort zone, next thing you know you'll be going on quilt retreats. :)

BIG THIGHS??!! That's hysterical! I would have told her they were for my daughter! You should "OWN" your thighs ... I'm almost there! =) Congratulations on trying something new!

Sewing can be so rewarding....don't you think? I'm really surprised that you have never done this before. Now you can sew your own "Wonder Women" outfits ;) Congratulations!!!

Good for you Alicia! You did a great job!!! I've done one project and it was fun but haven't touched a sewing machine since! So, I'll wait to see what you make next, and live through you!
