Spring Flings!

ENJOYED lots of fun experiences throughout the month of April...

1. Got to drive with my friend Misty to "test out" a Sheep-a-Doodle puppy in Fillmore. I got to ride home with newly-purchased Indigo Ray on my lap for 2 hours.

2. Literally "ran" into Grayson's 2nd mom Heather Massey at Tunnel Springs Park and had to send a picture to Grayson to document it.

3. Michelle and I finally "paid up" on our Christmas present to dad with tickets to Music Man at Hale Theater and dinner at Mimi's prior (dad's treat).

4. Got to "check out" the newly refurbished Jordan River Temple with the Kings and dad.

5. Scheduled a "quick trip" to Park City for John's birthday over the weekend and he drove straight from a sunny, hot golf tournament in St. George that morning to cool, snowy Cheateaux at Deer Valley.

6. Took a "leisurely hike" up Mueller Park Canyon after early morning stake conference and having the whole afternoon available...

7. Enjoyed "email banter" with this Elder on his p-day and happy to hear he's doing well accompanied with pictures to prove it!

Oceanside 70.3

John & I love watching our kids participate in activities and sports. Hillary signed up for the Oceanside 70.3 triathlon for the second year and we booked a condo on the beach so we could be there to support and watch her compete. We flew into San Diego Thursday morning, April 5 and spent the day at some of our favorite places like Mormon Battalion, Old Town and Seaport Village, then drove to Oceanside where Hillary joined us that evening.

On Friday we had a little time to enjoy the beach, do a short training run with Hillary, visit Ironman Village, get her bike and gear checked in at the race start and eat at some of her favorite places like Ruby's on the pier, Board & Brew sandwiches and Sidecar Donuts in Costa Mesa.

The weather couldn't have been more ideal--especially for the race on Saturday. The low was 57 and the high was 67. Racers started gathering before 6 am but Hillary actually didn't get into the water with her wave of swimmers until 7:15 am.

The harbor had thousands of swimmers...

She finished the one-mile swim in 42 minutes!

Had a 7-minute transition from swimwear to bikewear and she was off on her 56-mile ride through Camp Pendleton military base. The bike leg took her about 3-1/2 hours.

After a 4-minute transition from bike to run, she was running her 13.1 miles which passed by our condo three times so we had great views!

John waving to me while I was on the balcony...

Two hours later and Hillary completed the race in 6 hours and 19 minutes!

We're always amazed and in awe of how strong, determined and disciplined she is to train and compete in these type of events. Total rock star!

See you next year Oceanside...
