Master Gardener Volunteer Training Program

On instagram this morning I posted how 2019 has been the year for me to step out of my comfort zone (High Fitness Instructor 😂) and that I recently competed the Master Gardener Volunteer Training Program at the USU Extension in Kaysville. I had to do a 3-hour mandatory volunteer shift in the diagnostics center where people call or email about problems with their trees/grass/plants, etc. or bring in diseased samples and then we diagnose and advise treatment. I had been dreading this for months. However, I actually enjoyed it and realized I knew more than I thought I did and there's always a resource to find the answer I'm looking for. The last four months included irrigation, planting and pruning labs as well as weekly 2-1/2 hour instruction and opportunities to volunteer to reach our 40 hours--cleaning up USU Botanical Center, Baby Animal Days, etc. As I'm learning, you're never too old to try new things!!

So much more enjoyable with friends--Misty Mower, Carin Davis, Betsy Pilkington, Kristen Holm & Heather Passey

May MADNESS!

May started off with a bang attending the BYU Women's Conference with Michelle. Since she's on the Primary General Board, she had the opportunity to speak and she was by far the best presenter of the day!

John headed south to Vegas to attend Supercross with Hillary, Patrick and Garrett (drove from Phoenix). They had a fun-filled day at the races...

Aladdin was in town at the Eccles and the whole Know How Mom team was as well so we celebrated with an amazing dinner at Fireside and evening at the broadway show.

May 12 was celebrated by these birthday girls the night prior at BJ's in Phoenix where Hailey and Riley were visiting Garrett & Julia for a few days. Hailey turned 24 and Julia turned 22.

The following weekend we drove to Vegas and spent an evening with Hillary since Patrick was out of town and then attended a family/friend shower for Julia at one of her previous ward member's house.

Patrick turned 32 on May 16 so we celebrated with him on Saturday night while we were still in town.

We raced back to St. George late that night so we could leave at 5 am the next morning for our Stake Conference. I was in charge of the Stake Children's Choir and wish I could post the recording because the children sang their hearts out and brought such a special spirit to the meeting. One of my favorite stake choir experiences thus far! The composer of two of the three songs we sang, Blake Gillette even attended and spoke to the children before they sang explaining why he wrote "Behold Your Little Ones" and "I Will Be What I Believe." Very special for the children...

Headed south for Memorial Day weekend and Garrett and Julia flew in from Phoenix for 3 days and Hailey and Riley drove down from Provo. Fun to spend time with all of them and do some things we haven't done before. Missed the Coffeys and Grayson...

A Parent's PAYDAY!

SO VERY PROUD of these kids--graduating and walking at BYU commencement April 2019!
Garrett graduated in Construction Management in December, Hailey graduated in Exercise and Wellness in December and Julia graduated from the business school in Experience Design in April. They are all amazing, accomplished and driven individuals who will succeed in whatever they choose to do with their degrees. Grateful the BYU family tradition is carrying on...
