This was one of those "trip of a lifetime" experiences that I don't think I'll ever be able to recreate. I left for Scotland Oct. 19 and returned Oct. 27. The Scottish Highlands are extremely beautiful even when it's cold, which it was! But I was prepared so it didn't bother me.
Since I help Georgia and her Know How Mom business, I accompanied her on the Us Elevated Scotland marriage retreat and we were a "couple" since neither of our husbands were able to come. We flew from SLC to Amsterdam to Inverness and then our tour guide and native Scottswoman Frances picked us up and drove us to Kingussie where we spent our first four days.
SUNDAY - Arrived in Kingussie and checked into our Bed and Breakfast for the next few days, went to Frances' church for after-meeting sandwiches and sweets, toured the small town, met up with the other couples arriving throughout the day and went to bed early to try and stave off jet lag with the 7-hour time difference and 12 hours of flight time.
MONDAY - Enjoyed a lovely rain-free day which enabled us to walk through an ancient cemetery, visit several lochs (lakes), went on a "wee" five-mile hike in Cairgorn National Park and visited a couple of castle ruins.
TUESDAY - Taught High Fitness at the local gym for a few brave Us Elevated women and then off to tour William and Anna's farm, learned about their lifestyle, watched sheep hearding, watched sheep shearing and enjoyed a traditional Scottish meal and entertainment in their home. They LOVE the Tabernacle Choir so we sang a few hymns and they sang right along with us.
WEDNESDAY - Another incredible day in Kingussie at the beautiful Munro home learning to make scones with Anna and Frances while the men went golfing with William. Being in Scotland with my two besties made it even better!
After our scones were baked we enjoyed a light lunch eating them with homemade soup. We then toured the Highland Historic Museum which was very interesting and hands-on.
Wrapped up our day with a fish & chips meal and a Scottish dancing lesson.
