Breeze Airlines was having a Black Friday sale and some of their destinations are ones I thought would be fun to experience. Since I'd been to Charleston on a girls trip I knew John would love it too! So for $271 r/t total for BOTH of us, we flew to Charleston Wednesday morning and arrived back home early Saturday evening.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 24
We walked to The Battery from our Hotel Bella Grace and saw some amazing homes and Rainbow Row. We went to Magnolias for dinner and John had Fried Green Tomatoes for the first time and loved them! We also had the most amazing Mexican chocolate cake for dessert.
THURSDAY, JAN. 25
We were greeted Thursday morning when we went to get our car from the hotel valet that vandals had broken in and stolen a few car keys--ours being one of those. So we walked to all of our events and the hotel paid for our Uber to Boone Plantation. I was so happy our hotel was less than a mile from almost every activity we had planned with the first one a 3-hour food tour which started at the Charleston City Market and we loved everything we ate and the info. as we walked around. After Boone Plantation we finished our evening at Husk for traditional southern dinner.
FRIDAY, JAN. 26
After a horse carriage ride downtown Charleston, the valet drove us to the airport to pick up another rental car and they towed the one with the stolen key back to the airport rental. We drove to Patriots Point to see the aircraft carrier, destroyer, Vietnam simulation and took a ferry to Fort Sumter where the Civil War began. We drove to Isle of Palms and walked on the beach and then to dinner at Obstinate Daughter on Sullivan's Island. Went to opening night of a super funny play at the Dockside Theater called Chicken & Biscuits.
We loved our Charleston visit and I especially loved seeing beautiful churches on almost every corner--and the fact that they're still in use and people are attending!
