Pioneer Heritage Celebrations!

I'm pretty sure we haven't skipped a Handcart Days Parade since we've always had a child participating somehow.  Kind've sad this year that we weren't in that same situation but we still thoroughly enjoyed the parade with family and friends.

The next morning John and I tried to keep with the tradition Hailey started last year with the Handcart Days 5K run.  This picture is before the race...

These next two are of John and I heading to the finish line.  We both improved on our times from last year.  I placed 1st in my age group again (not too much competition in my age category) but my goal is to be one of the top 3 overall women finishers so I can get a "cool" pioneer trophy.  I was 5th among the women this year so I have some work to do.

After the race we ate our Chuckwagon Breakfast and headed over to work in the nacho booth at the park which our ward was assigned to this year.

We rounded off our weekend of fun by heading to Bear Lake to spend a couple of days with the Passey at their lovely house on the beach.  We enjoyed a hilarious play at Pickleville Playhouse and then an amazing dinner prepared by Chef Heather.  Favorite treat was the fresh raspberry shaved ice at 10 pm.  Amazing!!

Saturday was beautiful and we headed to the beach for lots of fun!

Grayson had a great time too and kind've remembered what it was like to have siblings again :)

Ended our week of celebration with our annual family birthday dinner to Maddox in Perry, Utah.  There were 15 of us and it was awesome!  My mom and I celebrate the same birthday as I was born on her 31st birthday.  She's celebrating a big one this year--Happy 80th mom!!!!

Bonneville Builders Company Party

John held his summer company party at Boondock's in Kaysville.  His employees brought their families and enjoyed a Mexican buffet and 3 hours of fun.  Grayson and I enjoyed go-karting...

John and Grayson enjoyed soaking each other on the bumper boats...

We also did some bowling, played laser tag and mini golf and lots of arcade games.

We enjoyed ourselves so much at Boondock's, we met my parents there again 5 days later for FHE for some more fun!  *Note:  My dad's shirt is soaked because he did not hit his last ball into the volcano's mouth and it shot water at him which he was totally not expecting :)

High Adventure 2014

Grayson and John went up to Jackson, WY with the scouts to High Adventure Scout Camp last week.  John was able to stay 3 days and participate in pistol shooting, white water rafting and canoeing.  Grayson stayed all 5 days and added boating at Palisade Reservoir in Idaho to his agenda.

A few trouble makers... (adults)

A few more... (scouts)

It never matters how cold the water is, the scouts always manage to get wet.

Anything to do with guns is always a favorite activity...

When tired of cafeteria food, Jackson Hole is only a few miles away...

White water rafting and a day of canoeing on the Snake River were favorite activities...

...And of course, there are always the scout shenanigans that I don't want to hear about :)

I sure missed my men but Cooper and I still found fun things to do!

Let Freedom Ring!

...And boy did we let it ring this week!!  We were so excited when Hillary said she and Patrick were coming to stay with us for the week.  They are outdoorsy, adventuresome kids so we packed in lots of fun activities while they were here.

An evening ATV ride up by the "B" warranted a shave ice from Hokulia for dessert.

After lunch at Zupas with Grammy & Papa, Patrick and Hillary were nice enough to show Grayson the "ropes" at a new climbing wall in SLC.

Another day found us in Park City so Patrick could check out the biking trails.  Hillary and Grayson rode the Alpine Coaster and played a round of mini golf while Patrick rode.

We went up to Zermatt to spend the night since we were going to hit the lake and go boating at Jordanelle the next morning at 7 am.  There's always lots to do in Midway and Heber.

It was a little chilly--about 64 degrees (both water and air temps) but no one was on the lake and the water was as calm as I've ever seen.  We had the best time!

4th of July couldn't have started out any better for me!  We had a ward breakfast and the Primary was in charge of the bike parade.  The kids had so much fun decorating their "ride" and I had a blast too!

John, Grayson and I hit the golf course and we all enjoyed the 9 holes :)

We had a delicious BBQ at the Kings and Grayson was excited to see he surpassed the last woman in the family in height and is now going to start working on the men...

A wonderful week filled with FAMILY, FUN & FREEDOM!
