John, Grayson and I flew to Oceanside, CA for a few days so we could support Hillary in her first half Ironman, competing in the Oceanside 70.3. It was such an amazing race! Watching the athletes of all shapes and sizes work so hard to swim 1.2 miles in the harbor, bike 56 miles around Camp Pendleton and a 13.1 mile next to the beach.
Hillary did an AMAZING job and she was all smiles the whole 6 hours and 20 minutes it took her to complete! I had such a fun day and thoroughly enjoyed being a spectator rather than a competitor.
She was most nervous for the swim and she did it in 46 minutes!
It was also great having Suzette around to help me navigate the role of a spectator and her husband AJ who also competed was a big help to Hillary and her first experience. Suzette and I ran our measly 5 miles while our family members were getting work done.
Since it was General Conference weekend we watched both Sunday sessions and then met Hillary and Patrick at Trestles beach to fly his drone.
Grayson is growing out his hair before his mission--yikes!
On Monday we attended Hillary's Easter program at Good Shepherd Methodist preschool where she works. She does such a great job with the kids and they love "Miss Hillary."
Tuesday we stopped at Venice beach on our way to LAX to fly to our various destinations for Spring Break Part 2! We saw many interesting things and had a great meal on the boardwalk...
