531/3

The Young Men and Young Women participated in a Book of Mormon Marathon--thus, 531 pages in 3 days...

We began Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. Grayson had to attend the first couple of afternoons until John could pick him up after work. He wanted to make sure he had a comfy spot...

Ready to begin...

Garrett was proving to me that he was following along. The Priests found the stairwell to hang out in as they listened...

A couple of our fabulous readers... we had more than 50 different people come and read for us during the 26 hours we spent together!

All meals, snacks and treats were provided for the kids during the marathon...

Garrett taking a reading turn...

Hailey following along...

Finished at 9 pm Saturday night!!!

Santa Barbara

John and I were able to combine watching Hillary's lacrosse tournament and Valentines weekend together to make a wonderful vacation! (Plus, who can complain about leaving a foot of snow on our grass at home to beautiful green rolling hills and 70 degree weather!!!)

First stop--Solvang. A beautiful and quaint Danish village about 30 miles north of Santa Barbara.
Next stop--Pismo Beach. A fun beach town about 50 miles north of Santa Barbara.

We rented bikes for a couple of hours to ride to the Monarch Butterfly Grove where the Monarch butterflies congregate each winter.

Next stop--Lacrosse tournament at UC Santa Barbara.

BYU did well. They competed against the "BIG" girls like Florida, Georgia, UC Davis and Pittsburgh.

They beat Georgia and Pittsburgh...

...and lost close games to Florida and UC Davis.

Hillary actually got some good playing time.

and John and I were able to sneak in a museum, water taxi, sightseeing tour and another 2-hour bicycle ride in Santa Barbara in between her games.

Sure glad BYU always attends this tournament in February. It is now on the calendar for next year!

1st Place!!!

Up next... Mueller Park Jr. High Cheerleaders!!!

Beginning formation...

Hit the first stunt... (btw, their tumbling portion was phenominal--just couldn't catch the handsprings, backflips and twists with the camera)

Hit the second "moving" stunt...

Hailey locked in her scorpion...

Lots of smiles as she turns with her leg extension...

Dance portion begins...

Finishing up...

Announcements for the Jr. Highs begin... 7th place-Legacy Academy, 6th place-Kaysville, 5th place-South Davis, 4th place-North Layton, 3rd place-Bountiful Jr., 2nd place-Sunset...

... 1st place-MUELLER PARK!!!

What a way to end competition season and 2 years of Jr. High cheer!

Mom is VERY proud and VERY tired...

p.s. Woods Cross cheerleaders took 1st place in the high school division which is next on Hailey's "to do" list. We'll keep you posted after tryouts in two months.

1st Scout Campout

I am SO glad the YW have Girls Camp in the summer... I WOULD NOT SURVIVE!

John accompanied Grayson and the 11-year-old scouts and their leaders (bless you, Bro. Stringham and Bro. Davis) to Rockport for an evening of food, fire and fun. Did I forget "freezing?"

Grayson and John slept in the Trailblazer but Grayson said John snored all night long so he didn't sleep much (that sounds familiar...)

Nothing like a good hot breakfast in the morning to get the boys up and ready to pack up and come home.
The Trailblazer and my laundry room now smell like campfire--John's FAVORITE aroma. He's a good sport to hang with his son on his first campout...
