This is a long post but it was a 5-day trip--Tuesday, Sept. 11-Saturday, Sept. 15--which was supposed to be to Savannah, GA and Hilton Head, SC. Unfortunately Hurricane Florence had other plans for us and after receiving a mandatory evacuation notice and our flight home was canceled we decided to fly to the first leg of our destination, rent a car and drive 4 hours north to Nashville for the week. And what a great choice that was!
We also started with 10 friends in the planning stages months ago, dwindled to 7 and then with the hurricane and family issues, only 5 of us made it on the trip.
DAY 1: When we arrived we dropped our luggage off at our 3-story airbnb in Berry Hill which was the perfect location for our stay. We headed to 12th South Avenue for shopping at Draper James, owned by Reese Witherspoon, Five Daughters Bakery, and capped it off at Wildhorse Saloon for dinner and line dancing in downtown Nashville.
DAY 2: Headed to Loveless Cafe for brunch, Belle Mead plantation tour, drove through beautiful neighborhoods in Brentwood, Country Music Hall of Fame Museum, Husk for dinner and Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream for dessert!
DAY 3: 90-minute Hop on/hop off trolley tour, Nashville Temple, lunch at The Honeysuckle, shopping in downtown Franklin, dinner at Gray's on Main, and an amazing evening at The Listening Room Cafe where we heard some amazing singer/songwriters perform.
DAY 4: The girls went to Biscuit Love for breakfast while I went on a 3-mile run since carb content is too high for me... Went to lunch at Sopapillas in Franklin, walked through The Factory, visited Andrew Jackson's Hermitage, walked through the Opryland Hotel and wrapped up the night with a great concert at the Grand Ole Opry with oldies and newbies in the country world.
DAY 5: We left our airbnb at 4:15 am for the 4 hour drive to Atlanta to catch our flight home. We were blessed to find a $99 non-stop flight since ours was canceled. I arrived home to find John had made a large purchase while I was gone!
