President's Weekend in St. George

Michelle and I drove to St. George Thursday afternoon in a torrential rain storm and poor Cooper was shaking and scared. Michelle was kind to wrap him up in his sherpa and hold him most of the way! John and Steve came the next morning and missed the bad weather...

We went to a movie, ate at our favorite restaurants, visited with our aunt and uncle, saw 20+ homes in the St. George Parade of Homes, picked Garrett and Julia up from the airport and spent a couple days with them, caught up on the latest Visitor's Center films, walked the temple grounds and fed every duck at the pond! Great weekend with family!!

TAHITI Part 4...

We went fishing in the ocean near the resort and used live crabs as bait and a piece of wood with fishing line wrapped around it with a hook on the end. We ended up catching three each and had the option to have the kitchen cook them for us but we passed...

Took the small boat to the small town by the airport and one store and walked around in 85-degree temp sweating to death.

Took a snorkeling tour and swam with HUGE manta rays which was amazing! Said farewell to Tikehau and took a plane back to Tahiti.

Since we had a 7-hour layover until our overnight flight we hired a taxi (the driver happened to be LDS) and she took us past the Tahiti Temple, around the downtown area and then dropped us off at the Intercontinental Hotel where we had a buffet dinner and hung out until it was time to head back to the airport. This will be one of those trips I never forget!

The cold weather, kids and Cooper were waiting for us...

TAHITI Part 3...

On Wednesday we took the ferry from Moorea back to the airport in Papeete, were happy to see a McDonald's (which we despise at home but haven't been too impressed with French Polynesean cuisine), boarded a tiny plane to Tikehau for our 55 min. flight and then took a small boat to the beautiful and remote Tikehau Pearl Beach Resort where we will spend the next 4 days.

First glimpse of our resort and no way off except by small boat... We swam, explored, snorkeled, kayaked, relaxed on the patio of our overwater bungalow, and had a couples massage.

TAHITI Part 2...

Moorea continued to be full of activities to choose from so we did an off-road tour for a couple hours with a guide seeing things you couldn't see any other way like multiple hillside pineapple plantations, Belvedere, a flower plantation, the nearest LDS Church and Magic Mountain.

That evening we went to the Tiki Village Cultural Center to watch a Polynesian show and fire dancers. John was chosen to participate and dance :)
