Ringing in the New Year (almost!) in NYC...

I offered to take all of the daughters/daughter-in-laws to NYC for a few days if they could get their husbands to tend their kids and could make it work. Hailey and Julia took me up on the offer and we flew out early Friday morning and returned Sunday evening in time for them to ring in the new year with their families...

DAY 1-We took a SCARY taxi ride from JFK to our Springhill Suites hotel on 37th Street. We dropped off our stuff and headed to the Winter Market at Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center and met Cameron and Erin King's family at Jacob's Pickles for dinner. They walked with us to Levain Bakery for a cookie treat and then we popped over to Times Square and all the shops like Hershey's, Disney, FAO Schwartz, etc.

DAY 2-We started off our morning at Magnolia Bakery tasting their world-famous banana pudding. It was delicious! We had an 11am Rockettes Christmas Spectacular show at Radio City Music Hall and then we stood in line for 30 min. to eat lunch at Ellen's Stardust Diner where all of the servers are belting out tunes non-stop. So fun and unique! Next we went back to FAO Schwartz for the girls to get souvenirs for their kids and we enjoyed Kate Spade and Central Park before heading to our dinner reservation at Nonna Dora's Pasta Bar for the most amazing homemade and fresh food. After dinner we went to Wicked at the Gershwin Theater and the acting was stupendous. We loved every minute of it. It's so crowded for the New Years weekend that it takes an extra long time to get around and walk so we try to take the subway whenever we can.

DAY 3-Took the subway to the Only Murders in the Building series that Julia and Hailey watch, went to the Manhattan 1st Ward Sacrament meeting and saw the Kings one more time. The temple is on the 1st floor of the church building and they will be going into a multi-year refurbishment soon since its already been 20 years since completion. We went to Los Tacos No. 1 for lunch, walked past the Macy's windows and then headed to the airport. Such a fun trip but packed in everything we wanted to see, do and eat the 48 hours we were actually in Manhattan!
